About the band:
We are long time veterans of the
local bar scene. Over the past three decades, we've all
recorded professionally and have experienced the ups and
downs of life as musicians. In years past, music was an
obsession, and we saw it as a possible ticket out of the
humdrum workaday lifestyle that most of our friends and
acquaintances had resigned themselves to accept. We felt
that our talent and drive as musicians would buy that
ticket out of the workforce and into an entrepreneurial
lifestyle as free ranging troubadours. As fate would
have it, eventually, we all settled down, started
families, and moved on to other ways of making a living.
As John Lennon says, "Life is what happens while you're
busy making other plans." The dreams of becoming big in
the field of music were shelved, and duty became our new
purpose and drive as we joined the workforce and put our
hearts into becoming providers for our families. Some of
us quit playing music at all for a period of time.
Despite our acceptance of economic
reality, an abiding love of music has persisted in all
of us, and when we got together to play at a 50th
birthday party in 2003, it clicked in us that we could
play music for the joy of doing it, and that's why we
formed the Loco Yokels. It is our desire to enjoy
ourselves while we play and to entertain at events and
occasions if the opportunity arises. This philosophy has
encouraged us to rehearse on a regular basis and to keep
our skills sharp.
